Oral tips for healthy holiday season

Oral tips for healthy holiday seasonIf you are going on a holiday, then this means that you are bound to spoil yourself with different meals. This means that you will indulge in meals that can be quite harmful to the teeth. This should not be the case if you can still go on holiday and eat healthy foods. The dentist will help you create a traveling guide for foods that you should eat and those that you should not eat while on holiday.

Avoid sugary foods

Eating foods with sugar while on holiday is something many people fail to avoid. They will eat cakes, sweets, and candies that will make them happy during the holiday but will eventually bring about oral health hazards to you. Sugar in foods will combine with mouth bacteria and they cause the teeth enamel to be eroded. When the enamel erodes it exposes the dentin and the pulp cavity gets infected. When the pulp cavity is infected the blood vessels and nerves get exposed and cause sensitivity. When a tooth is sensitive it is after exposure to cold or hot temperatures. Avoid the sugars while on holiday to keep the teeth in optimal health.

Avoid acidic foods

Acidic foods are those that will cause you too many health issues, they will bring about dental cavities and can lead to tooth loss. Some of the acidic foods include fruits with citrus such as lemon, oranges, and even pineapples. Eating the fruits is healthy but they need to be taken together with other meals. The acidic foods will erode the enamel and will cause you oral health issues. While on holiday observe what you are eating and avoid too much intake of red wine, cigarettes, and coffee for they might cause your teeth to stain. Our dental team will guide you on foods that will keep you healthy during the holiday season.
