Dr. McAllister has practiced the specialty of Periodontics in the Portland area for over twenty-five years. Dr. McAllister has been active in treating the periodontal diseases with an emphasis on dental implant placement and bone reconstruction. Prior to starting his own practice in Tigard, Dr. McAllister was a full-time faculty member at the Oregon Health Sciences University. He was the director of the dental implant program for the residents and performed research related to implantology.
Prior to his return to the Northwest, Dr. McAllister practiced in San Antonio Texas while completing his Ph.D. degree. His research centered on techniques to improve surgical wound healing. He completed his residency in Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio after obtaining his D.D.S. in at the University of Washington. Dr. McAllister has lectured on implantology and periodontics to local, national and international audiences. He has published numerous articles in professional journals. He is a member of several professional organizations and is active in teaching.
